----- Prologue
Coming out here was a mistake, one that I dreadfully regret every second that passes. I tell myself that every day as I help the soldiers bury the dead. My mind unraveled as each man that passes, takes a piece of my sanity with him. We had yet to even be attacked, yet over seven were dead. The sun, the brilliant sun, left us baking alive, burn scars on the flesh of the lucky, soft graves for the less fortunate. It makes sense though, only dead men would dare stop foot near here, wandering into this hell hole glazed in sand was nothing short of punishment for the damned.
To think there were places like this, entire lands the goddess had forsaken was an almost frightening thought. A damned land where the nights are cold as ice and the days are like fire dancing across your face. The demon-like creatures that make their living in this sandpit are even worse than the forsaken weather that finds its way here. Each of them never attacking humans unless they severely outnumber us.
Even so, they never ceased to stalk us endlessly, waiting for us to show a sign of weakness so they may carefully remove our flesh from the soft bones they lay on. If that were not enough, there seems to be nothing but sand for as far as the eye can see. Even though it seems to rain daily, the infernal sand never seems goes away. It just sits there, waiting for the next corpse to fall into it, so it may swallow him whole. I guess there are places like this in the world...
